If you would like to honor the memory of John H. McConnell, you can do so in one of two ways:

Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center

The Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center is named after Mr. McConnell's late wife, Peggy. The Arts Center was envisioned to fulfill community needs for a central arts and community gathering space. It will enhance the richness of community life, strengthen the educational environment, and increase opportunities for the arts as a vocation or fulfilling avocation. It will be a centerpiece venue for the arts community, featuring a 220-seat auditorium, classrooms, studios, offices and exhibit spaces. Most of these areas will be multi-use and will be available for public and private meetings as well as social gatherings. In 2007, he made a $1 million contribution to the center, which is expected to open in the spring of 2009. Contributions can be sent to the following:

John H. McConnell Scholarship Fund

The John H. McConnell Scholarship Fund was established by the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation, in the name of Blue Jackets players. The fund will be used to award annual scholarships to central Ohio high school students who personify the character and leadership of Mr. McConnell, who was the team's majority owner and chairman as well as the chairman of the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation. The scholarship fund enables fans to join the players in honoring Mr. McConnell's philanthropic legacy and his deep-rooted belief in the importance of giving back to the community.
