GEORGE MATTHEWS, Radio Play-by-Play Announcer
George Matthews

George Matthews has served as the radio play-by-play voice of Blue Jackets hockey since the inaugural 2000-01 season. Entering his 34th season of hockey broadcasting, Matthews brings his passionate broadcast style to the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM (1460 the Fan) and WWCD-FM 101.1 (CD101).

His broadcasting career has also included play-by-play work for the AHL's PEI Senators, as well as the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (CIAU) National Championships, the Royal Bank Cup (Canada's Junior A Hockey Championship) and the Allen Cup (Canada's senior hockey championship). His experience in television includes a stint of national play-by-play work for Rogers Cable. In addition to his work behind the microphone, Matthews spent 23 years as a school teacher in his hometown of Summerside, Prince Edward Island.
