The first meeting of the season between the Blue Jackets and Rangers was missing something. In particular, it was missing No. 61 for the Blueshirts, the guy who served as captain of the Blue Jackets for five seasons and was once the face of the franchise in Columbus. Nash, a five-time NHL All-Star and Olympic gold medalist with Team Canada in 2010, was recovering from a concussion back on Nov. 7 when the Rangers picked up a 4-2 win at Nationwide Arena and unfortunately Nash was unable to make the trip. Tonight's game undoubtedly holds added significance for Nash, who said he still plans to keep his home in Columbus and basically grew up in Ohio's capital city. But Nash would probably also like to get this game underway and over with, considering that there are two very important divisional points on the line and with a regulation victory, the Blue Jackets can tie the Rangers at 31 points and pull within a single point of third place in the Metropolitan Division.
